The company’s managers explained to the Regional Councillor for Science, Business, Training and Employment, Borja Sánchez, and the director of the Sekuens Agency, David González, their plans to centralise part of their corporate structure in our region.
The Principality is facilitating the establishment in Asturias of the technology company Galeo Tech, founded by Asturians and with offices in Madrid, the Canary Islands and the United Kingdom, which is looking to return to the region with a new work centre. The Regional Councillor for Science, Business, Training and Employment, Borja Sánchez, met today with the CEO and co-founder of the company, Marco Laucelli, to discuss the expansion process in the region.
Galeo Tech specialises in data economics and the development of digital platforms for companies such as Repsol, Michelin, Ferrovial and Cepsa. Founded five years ago, the company now intends to centralise part of the development of its corporate structure in Asturias.
At the end of February, the president of the Principality, Adrián Barbón, visited the company’s headquarters in Madrid, thus initiating contacts for its expansion in Asturias. ‘Now the intention is firm and, within the framework of attracting investment, we are advising them in the search for a location,’ explained Sánchez.
At this morning’s meeting, which was also attended by the director of the Sekuens Agency, David González, the minister and the company’s director discussed the process of setting up in the Principality. The location of the headquarters is still pending definition, but the company is expected to start with a dozen workers, with the intention of growing, according to Laucelli.
Borja Sánchez stressed that the arrival of Galeo Tech is good news for Asturias, because it is a sign of ‘Asturian talent returning’. The company’s activity is also focused on a field such as the data economy, which is one of those that the Principality intends to promote.
The minister added that the arrival of the technology company demonstrates the interest in investing in Asturias and emphasised that the Principality offers ‘comprehensive advice and support for each company’s needs’.
The CEO of Galeo Tech has conveyed to the Minister the company’s desire to have Asturian talent, such as the one coming out of the University of Oviedo, to contribute to the development of the company. The company, founded in 2018, focuses on software development, the digitisation of industrial processes and the exploitation of corporate architectures in the cloud.
