The asturian company Auxquimia is a good example of its commitment to Asturias. The firm, dedicated to the manufacture of fire-fighting foams, celebrated its 50th anniversary this week. And it has done so with more than commendable figures: it is present in 31 countries and has a turnover of more than 27 million.
Auxquimia was born as a family business formed by three partners who focused on developing specific chemical products to provide solutions to specific problems. Throughout its history, it has collaborated with entities such as Endesa, Hunosa, municipal fire brigades and the Spanish Navy, among many others.
Nowadays, it is part of the multinational company Perimeter Solutions and 90% of its sales are exports. It is also one of the Asturian companies listed on Wall Street.
The business growth of the company has been one of the topics addressed last monday 16th September at the anniversary celebration event, in the Baíña Industrial Estate in Mieres, which was attended, among others, by the Regional Councillor for Ecological Transition, Industry and Economic Development, Nieves Roqueñí, the director of the Sekuens Agency, David González, and the mayor of Mieres, Manuel Ángel López. Javier Castro, vice-president of Auxquimia and Haithan Khouri, CEO of Perimeter Solutions, were present on behalf of the company.
Roqueñí highlighted the importance of the chemical sector in Asturias and the resilience and clear commitment to international markets of the company from Mieres. ‘We are here to support fifty years of trajectory and we hope that these five decades will be of future for a very important industrial activity for Asturias and for a mining town like Mieres’, he added.
According to the data provided by the Councillor, the chemical industry generates an annual turnover of 1,000 million euros and 2,000 jobs in Asturias. According to her, the sector offers an average gross annual salary ‘54 percent higher than the average salary in Asturias’. For his part, the Mayor highlighted that Auxquimia is an example of ‘how, through hard work, commitment to the territory and innovation, it is possible to become a benchmark’.
